Artworks of the artist
Rainer NEPITA is a German artist born in 1954.
He paints, makes etchings and designs carpets
For this series of engravings, Rainer Nepita only needed a few lines to highlight a natural phenomenon as vast as a continent. Drawing on the thin, cut-out silhouettes of leaves, flowers, seeds and pistils, the artist on sheets of paper seems to evoke the global cycle of plant life, from hatching to withering.
The differences in the thickness of the line and the use of various tools make it possible to arrange plans at the heart of these works. The finest traces could be the evocation of roots, rootlets or other rhizomes specific to the underground plant world. Or perhaps it is the original sketches of the great architect of our world before giving body to reality.
The clarity that characterizes this series of drawings by Rainer Nepita and that allowed the appearance of life will also be the trigger leading to its disappearance. The light radiating over the entire surface will also be at the origin of the gradual drying up of this life. The colour palette used by the artist, which evoked the earthly and subterranean origin of the plant kingdom, reminds us of the shades of autumn and announces the end of a cycle.
