Jacques Clauzel was born on May 4th, 1941 in Nimes. He studied at the School for Beaux Arts in Tourcoing, Montpellier and Paris (Chastel workshop)
He was awarded logist at Rome’s Grand Prize in 1964. From 1965 to 1973 he is firstly decorator at the Côte d’Ivoire television, than teacher at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts of Abidjan .
He travels through the environing countries (Mali, Burkina Fasso, Niger, Ghana, Togo, Dahomey,…) taking numerous pictures. He is passionately fond of Negro Art. He has Published two photograph-books at Serg Edition : “Ici Bon Photo” in 1969 and “Les Marchés d’Abidjan” in 1972.
