Robert Schad is a German-born artist, and one of the most renowned contemporary steel sculptors.
“Robert Schad creates drawings in space from solid steel tubes. The lines are the result not only of bends and twists, but also of the addition of pieces of straight shape and different length, welded to each other. The welding points are sanded and take on an organic appearance, like joints. The graphic movement develops in space in wide curves and flights to become sculpture. The physical heaviness of solid steel is abolished. We are then in the presence of a form of human dimensions that unfolds to dance in space.”
